1. Scope

This policy explains how TWYN ("we", "us") handles information when you use the TWYN Chrome extension and visit twynagent.com.

2. What We Collect

On Your Device (Local Storage)

On supported shopping sites (Amazon.in, Flipkart, Myntra, AJIO), we store:

Recent product clicks: product ID, title, category, price, rating, image URL, timestamp
Click count: tracks interactions (triggers recommendations once you hit the current threshold—default 3 clicks)
Session ID: unique identifier per browsing session
Preferences: which shopping sites are enabled, recommendation count, auto-open settings
Anonymous ID: 8-character random identifier (not linked to your identity)

This data is stored in Chrome's local storage, expires after 30 minutes of inactivity, and keeps only your last 10 clicks. It is never sent to our servers until you reach the current click threshold (defaults to 3 and may adjust based on browsing behaviour).

Sent to Our Servers

When you reach that threshold, we send:

Up to 10 product references (ID, title, category, image URL, price, rating)
Session ID and Anonymous ID
Merchant name, click count, timestamp

To keep recommendations useful and responsive, our servers may adjust the minimum click threshold or the number of suggestions (within sensible limits). These controls change configuration only; they adapt to your browsing behaviour without collecting additional personal data and respect the extension permissions granted through Chrome.

Security: All product data is sanitized (HTML stripped, HTTPS-only URLs, validated prices/ratings, max 500 character titles).

Standard Server Logs

We keep routine operational logs: IP address, user-agent, request timestamps, error codes. Retained for 30 days for security and debugging.

3. How We Use Data

Generate AI-powered product recommendations via SeqTransformer model
Show recommendation sidebar only when it adds value (after you reach the adaptive click threshold, usually 3)
Diagnose issues and prevent abuse
Improve recommendation quality over time

We do not build marketing profiles or use your data for advertising.

4. Permissions

TWYN requests the following permissions to function:

Host Permissions

Shopping sites (amazon.in, flipkart.com, myntra.com, ajio.com) to detect product pages and inject the recommendation sidebar. Access can be revoked per-site via Chrome's extension settings.

Storage

Stores click buffer (last 10 clicks), session ID, anonymous ID, and preferences in Chrome's local storage. All data stays on your device.

activeTab

Reads the current tab's URL and page content to extract product details (title, price, image) only on shopping sites you visit.

tabs

Monitors tab navigation to detect when you move between product pages, enabling recommendations without constant page polling.

5. Data Sharing

No sale or sharing with advertisers
Service providers (hosting, CDN) process data under contract
Recommendation clicks open retailer pages with affiliate parameters (standard practice)
Disclosure only if required by law or to protect users

6. Data Retention

Local click buffer: Last 10 clicks, expires after 30 minutes
Anonymous ID: Persists until you uninstall
Server logs: 30 days (unless needed longer for security)

7. Security

We use TLS encryption, input sanitization, and HTTPS-only connections. If we detect a breach affecting you, we'll notify you and relevant authorities as required.

8. Your Rights

Manage permissions: Click the TWYN extension icon → "Manage Site Access" to control which shopping sites can use the extension
Uninstall: Remove the extension anytime from Chrome Settings → Extensions
Access/Delete: Email us to request access to or deletion of server data
Privacy laws: We honor GDPR, CCPA, and India DPDP rights

9. Children's Privacy

TWYN is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Policy Changes

We may update this policy. We'll change the "Effective" date above and provide notice for material changes (in-extension or on our site).
